Two and a half decades ago, Dr. Prathap C Reddy lost a patient who could not make it to Texas for an open-heart surgery. This was the turning point in the Indian Healthcare Industry. Today, people in the Indian subcontinent have the opportunity to receive the best that healthcare has to offer worldwide. Driven by a deep urge to provide affordable world-class medical infrastructure in India, Dr. Reddy opted to give up his successful practice in the United States of America and returned to India in the seventies.In order to provide improved, accessible and affordable healthcare for the millions in the country, Padma Bhushan Dr. Reddy campaigned relentlessly for privatization of Health Insurance in India. He has been instrumental in the amendment of various legislations including amendment of the legislation for cadaver transplants in the country. Over the last decade, Apollo under the stewardship of Dr. Reddy has demonstrated that Indian skills are equivalent to the best in the world. He is a much feted person and his awards include:

» The Harvard Business School had published a case study on the achievements of Apollo Hospitals in the year 1996. Late Mother Teresa awarded Dr. Reddy the Citizen of the Year award for the year 1993-94.
»The Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh awarded him with Fellowship to The Royal College of Surgeons.
»Dr. Prathap C Reddy was also presented with the Sir Nilrattan Sircar Memorial Oration Award for medical excellence by JIMA in the year 1998.
» The same year, he was nominated by Business India as one of the Top Fifty personalities who have made a difference to the country in the fifty years since Independence.
»The Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award was conferred on Dr. Reddy on 27th September 2001 at Mumbai.
»The Lifetime Achievement Award was conferred on Dr. Reddy by HOSPIMEDICA International on 19th February 2002 at Delhi.
»Dr. Reddy was also invited by the Government of India to become a member of the working group on health financing and management constituted by the steering committee for the 8th Five Year plan in the planning commission.
»Dr. Reddy has also been awarded by the Government of India with Padma Vibhushan, India’s second highest civilian honor.

Mr. Bernhard Steinruecke (55), has studied law and economics in Vienna, Bonn, Geneva and Heidelberg. He has done honours degree in Law from the University of Heidelberg in 1980 and also became a member of bar council at the High Court of Hamburg during 1983. Mr. Steinruecke has a rich experience of about 28 years in the Banking and Finance. He has been associated with Deutsche bank for about 13 years at various capacities and was last designated as Jt. Chief Executive officer, Deutsche Bank, India. Since 2003. Since 2003 he is Director General of the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce. He is on the Board of several reputed Companies including HDFC ERGO General Insurance Company Limited where he is also a member of Audit Committee. He joined Apollo Munich Health Board in May, 2010. He is also the Chairman of Remuneration Committee.

MR. BERNHARD STEINRUECKE
Independent Director

Mr. M.B.N. Rao (63) former Chairman and Managing Director of Canara Bank and Indian Bank, has graduated with a B. Sc degree in Agriculture. He was born on 19th June, 1948. He is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers, London and Fellow of the Indian Institute of Banking and Finance. He is a member of the Singapore Institute of Management and has done his Diploma in Computer Studies from University of Cambridge and National Computing Center, London. Mr. M.B.N. Rao has extensive in-depth knowledge and over 38 years of varied experience in Banking and Finance, Economics, Foreign Exchange, Money and Capital Markets, Risk Management, Treasury and Funds Management, Asset and Liability Management, Internal Control, Inspection & Audit, Vigilance, Taxation and Administration etc. Mr. M.B.N. Rao held Chairmanship of various banking organizations and Directorship in reputed companies. During his tenure, he has received a number of awards from Indian Bank and Canara Bank including a number of commendations. He was a Director of General Insurance Corporation of India and Founder Chairman of Canara HSBC Oriental Bank of India Insurance Company. He is a member of Corporate Governance and Audit Committee of The Hongkong and Shangai Banking Corporation Ltd., India. He is also a member of the Board of Governors of National Institute of Securities Markets. He joined Apollo Munich Health Board in May, 2010. He is the Chairman of Audit Committee. He is on the Board of several reputed Companies.

MR. M.B.N. RAO
Independent Director

Rob Leonardi is responsible for all health reinsurance and health care business development in the Asia Region for Munich Re. He represents Munich Health on the Boards of health insurance companies in India and China. He has over 21 years international experience in healthcare management, including 13 years in Asia. Much of his experience has been in developing start up health businesses. Prior to joining Munich Re in 2008, Rob was responsible as CEO Asia for managing healthcare businesses in India, Philippines, Malaysia and Hong Kong for UnitedHealth International, including insurance, third party administration and employee benefit consulting. Prior to being appointed to this role in 2001, Rob held Chief Executive and other senior management roles in United Health - owned businesses in Hong Kong, Portugal and South Africa. Prior to joining United Health Group in 1995, Rob held positions as Chief Financial and Chief Underwriting officer for a health insurance administrator in South Africa, and as a consultant with PriceWaterhouseCoopers in South Africa and Namibia. Rob was raised in Italy, Denmark and South Africa and studied in South Africa. He currently resides in Singapore. He is a Chartered Accountant and holds degrees in Accounting and Business Finance and speaks English, Afrikaans and Italian. He joined Apollo Munich Health Board in February, 2010 as an alternate Director to Dr. Wolfgang Strassl. Subsequent to resignation of Dr. Strassl from the Board of Apollo Munich, he was appointed as a Director w.e.f. 15th November 2013.

MR. ROBERTO LEONARDI
Head of Regional Markets, Asia Pacific

Wolfgang Diels was born on 7 December 1954 in Goeppingen/Northern Wuerttemberg, Germany. He obtained his degree in law from Tuebingen and Munich in 1983. He worked for a renowned firm of lawyers in Munich from 1982 – 1983 after completing his practical legal training for the Free state of Bavaria and an internship at the Bundesrat Economics Office in Bonn. In 1984 he joined the European Travel Insurance AG (ERV), a Munich Re subsidiary. From 1997 - 2002 he was Member of ERV's Board of Management. During this period he transformed the ERV-Group into an international enterprise with subsidiaries and representations in every continent. From 2003 through May 2009 he was Chairman of ERV's Board of Management holding the divisional responsibilities for group accounting, claims/legal, human resources, corporate control/audit, and insurance supervision/taxes/ investments. Since May 2009, Wolfgang Diels has been working as Head of Global Markets 2 for Munich Health and Member of Munich Health Board at Munich Re. He has rich experience in travel insurance, health insurance, healthcare management and assistance. In his spare time Wolfgang likes to travel and listen to music. He also enjoys a match of soccer or handball, a discipline in which he had active and high level experience in former days. Wolfgang is married to Ingrid, and they have one daughter and two sons.

Ms. Shobana Kamineni has a degree in Economics and 20 years of experience in the healthcare industry. She was employee number 3 at the Apollo Hospitals and is part of the founding family now. Her experience was largely in the sphere of project management wherein she established most of the Apollo Hospitals Group's large projects. As Director of new initiatives, Ms. Kamineni is currently involved with the pharmaceutical retailing – 500 pharmacies, SCM, Clinical Trials, Research and the Apollo Group’s foray into Health Insurance (Apollo Munich Health Insurance). Ms.Kamineni is also Vice-Chairperson of the KEI Group. KEI is involved with the development of leisure facilities and theme parks (TRAC India), port management services (KEI-RSOS), Power Projects (KEI Energy & Apollo Energy) Pharma GPO & exchange (IH-X.com). As an active member of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Ms. Kamineni was the Chairman of CII (Southern Region). She has also on earlier occasions chaired the CII National Committee on entrepreneurship. An avid sportsperson, Ms. Kamineni was a national level Squash player. Her other interests include social development for women. She is also actively involved in the restoration of her husband’s ancestral fort and temple. She serves the Young Lives - Save the Children of UK, which is a part of the Centre for Economics & Social Studies. She is married to Anil Kamineni and has 2 daughters and a son.

Ms. Suneeta Reddy received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Marketing. She holds a diploma in Financial Management from the Institute of Financial Management and Research, Chennai and has completed the Owner / President Management Program at Harvard Business School (HBS), Boston, USA. Ms. Suneeta Reddy holds the position of Executive Director-Finance at Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Limited (AHEL), Asia's largest healthcare company. She is also on the Board of many organizations in the healthcare, hospitality and telecom sectors. During her 25-year tenure she spearheaded many initiatives in the healthcare and hospitality sectors and is an active member of various industry bodies representing the healthcare segment. She is widely recognized for her contribution to the Indian healthcare industry and has held leadership positions including Co-Chairperson of Healthcare Sub Committee - Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). She is currently the Chairperson of Aircel Cellular Limited and Vice Chairperson for Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI).

Antony Jacob spearheads Apollo Munich Health Insurance towards achieving the aim of uncomplicating health insurance for its stakeholders. As CEO Antony has been steering the company up the growth ladder since April 2009. Being among the first employees of the health insurance sector, he brings enormous knowledge and vast expertise to the organization, besides enthusiasm and professional exposure in other sectors. His experience in India’s rapidly evolving insurance market since 1996 has been an invaluable asset for Apollo Munich Health Insurance, leading the company to figure amongst the top 100 Great Places to Work For Survey 2011. Time and again, Apollo Munich has been identified to possess the best rated products by the industry and leading publishers. Antony’s 27 years of professional career spans across diverse industries and companies such as ITC, the Continental Grain (now part of Cargill) and the RSA group. His work has given him experience not just across major Indian metros, but also exposure to work culture in continents like Europe, the Middle East, Asia and New Zealand. Before joining Apollo Munich in 2009, Antony was a Regional Finance Director, Asia & Middle East, based in Dubai, for the RSA Group. Between 2004 and 2007, Antony was the Managing Director of Royal Sundaram Insurance in Chennai, a company he was involved with right from its inception. Born in Chennai, Antony is a Chartered Accountant, besides being a graduate from Loyola College, Chennai. Antony is a member of the Young Presidents Organization (YPO International) and is an avid sportsman who enjoys a game of tennis or golf in his spare time. Antony is married to Uma and they have one daughter and one son.

Ravi Vishwanath has over 16 years of global experience in Insurance sector. He has worked with different economies worldwide like the Middle East, Africa and Asia. As Chief Marketing Officer for Apollo Munich Health, Ravi is responsible for shaping the company’s distribution strategy and executing it, while keeping existing and prospective customers at the centre. Ravi is an MBA from The American Graduate School of International Management, Thunderbird, USA. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, with Honours, from Augustana College, USA. Ravi’s professional qualifications include APM, FLMI and ACS. Prior to joining Apollo Munich Health, Ravi worked with American International Group, Inc. (AIG) in Indonesia. He is married to Rekha, and they have one daughter, Raina.

Mr. Srikanth anchors the finance functions of the company. He is a versatile finance professional with over 22 years experience in the BFSI space. He handled several intricate assignments spanning across finance, accounting, planning, corporate banking and secretarial functions. He is the founding member of the core team involved in financial modeling, formulating joint ventures, formulating business plan, licensing, designing and implementing financial systems, procedures and policies of the company. He is a graduate in commerce and law. He is an associate member of the Institute of Cost & Works Accountants of India and The Institute of Company Secretaries of India. Prior to joining Apollo Munich Health he was a banker with UTI Bank Limited. Srikanth is married to Kalyani and they have two daughters.

Chief Financial Officer and Company Secretary

Dr. Sriharsha A. Achar (Achar) brings in experience that spans over a period of 26 years. His vast experience covers several industries, such as Manufacturing, Pharmaceuticals and Electronics. Apart from this, he also has experience of working with BPO/ITES companies, where he led the ongoing development of Human Resources strategy, systems, frameworks and service delivery capabilities that are required to support the overall business goals. Achar holds a Bachelors Degree in Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering from University of Bombay and a Masters Degree in Industrial Engineering from University of Goa. He also acquired additional qualifications in the areas of Human Resources Development, Human Resources Management, Personnel Administration, Industrial Relations, Business Management & Administration and Training. He holds a Doctorate in Human Resources Management from Canterbury University, London. Prior to Joining Apollo Munich Health, he was the CHRO of vKarma, DLF sponsored VC Fund. Achar is married to Shailaja and they have two daughters.

Mr. Krishnan Ramachandran was born in Chennai, India. As the Chief Operating Officer he handles Underwriting and Product Development, Actuarial, Claims & Provider Management, Customer Service and Technology. He is one of the founding management team members of Apollo Munich, involved in company setup i.e. licensing, business plan development, product filing, establishment of operating policies & processes, recruitment etc. He has over 16 years of global experience including more than six years with Deloitte, New York where he provided advisory services to several major US insurance companies. He is an Electrical Engineer from IIT-Madras and an MBA from IIM-Calcutta. Krishnan is married to Archana and they have two daughters.
