We are Learning In Geography, Humanities, Technology and Science (LIGHTS), a non-profit organisation set up in 2003. Our all-embracing approach ensures that through the programmes we support and projects we undertake, we reach out to a diverse group of scientists, legal experts, policy makers, academicians and the masses for maximum outreach. Our strengths in research, capacity building and publication make our projects sustainable and fruitful.
The major focus areas of LIGHTS are:
- To work as a research unit and help create documents and relevant material useful for organisations working in the field of environment and development of India
- To regularly organise workshops and seminars with a focus on various development and environment related issues in India
- Capacity building of officers in the Government of India through customised training programmes and seminars
- To undertake field studies and research projects, particularly in the education and environment sphere
Parliamentary and Administrative Research Institute (PARI), a subsidiary of LIGHTS, has brought out a myriad capacity building courses to help stakeholders deal with the Parliament and its proceedings competently.
Our sister concern, Geography and You, a fortnightly journo-mag under IRIS Publication Pvt Ltd has published over 125 issues and has been in print for over 18 years, encircling a variety of aspects of the multidisciplinary branch of semi-scientific study, embodying works in different genres of science, technology and sociology around the globe.
