Working at GSK

We have a supportive work environment that encourages our employees to develop their capabilities and achieve their best.

Developing our people

Ours is a culture of empowerment where every employee is given the opportunity to assume roles of responsibility. We have a well-structured Learning & Development plan in place to provide training inputs for employees across all functions and levels.

At GSK India, we value both comprehensive knowledge and specific expertise. Therefore, to attract and retain talented people, we have dedicated programmes to enhance both skill and knowledge. Simultaneously, we focus on developing leadership and coaching skills amongst employees so that they can achieve sustainable high performance and also learn how to motivate team members to do their best.

Employees helping communities

Employee volunteering is important to us. We encourage our people to contribute to their local communities – and give them plenty of support to do so. In 2015, over 3,000 employees made a difference by contributing over 14,000 volunteering hours.

Employee volunteering isn’t only about giving to others. It helps our people to gain new experiences and skills plus, in many cases, a deeper understanding of patient needs. We therefore have multiple avenues, ranging from one day of volunteering to full-time 3-6 months volunteering programmes as well as fund raising events and payroll contribution opportunities.

Our commitment to safety

Just as patient safety is our first priority in business, we have a commitment to conduct operations in a responsible manner to protect our employees, the environment and the community. To achieve our goal of no harm to employees, we focus on preventing incidents before they occur, and we ensure training and awareness activities are carried out on key risks, such as operating machinery or driving.

Our commitment to employee well-being

We invest in employees at every level and practices are designed to create a positive work place to ensure that our people stay happy even after work. We need our people to develop their skills, appreciate different perspectives and be highly motivated, engaged and resilient.

We also recognise the importance of listening to employees and have regular consultations with them to improve experience at work and give every support possible. At GSK India, emotional and mental health continues to be a focus area with bi-monthly employee communication touching upon different areas that benefit employees. Our Wellness and Wellbeing programme provides GSK employees with access to counselling and mental health and guidance on their day-to-day issues of life.

Inclusion and Diversity

We are an equal opportunity employer and have people from diverse backgrounds in our workforce. We are building a talent pipeline that includes people from different cultural and ethnic backgrounds and they are given an equal opportunity to grow and develop within the organisation. We are also focused on enabling gender diversity all across the organisation. We have introduced several interventions and policy enablers to encourage gender diversity in sales, management and senior roles.
