Walden C. Rhines

WALDEN C. RHINES is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Mentor Graphics, a leader in worldwide electronic design automation with revenue of $1.1 billion in 2012. During his tenure at Mentor Graphics, revenue has more than tripled and Mentor has grown the industry’s number one market share solutions in four of the ten largest product segments of the EDA industry.
Prior to joining Mentor Graphics, Rhines was Executive Vice President of Texas Instruments’ Semiconductor Group, sharing responsibility for TI’s Components Sector, and having direct responsibility for the entire semiconductor business with more than $5 billion of revenue and over 30,000 people.
During his 21 years at TI, Rhines managed TI’s thrust into digital signal processing and supervised that business from inception with the TMS 320 family of DSP’s through growth to become the cornerstone of TI’s semiconductor technology. He also supervised the development of the first TI speech synthesis devices (used in “Speak & Spell”) and is co-inventor of the GaN blue-violet light emitting diode (now important for DVD players and low energy lighting). He was President of TI’s Data Systems Group and held numerous other semiconductor executive management positions.
Rhines has served five terms as Chairman of the Electronic Design Automation Consortium and is currently serving as co-vice-chairman. He is also a board member of the Semiconductor Research Corporation and First Growth Family & Children Charities. He has previously served as chairman of the Semiconductor Technical Advisory Committee of the Department of Commerce, as an executive committee member of the board of directors of the Corporation for Open Systems and as a board member of the Computer and Business Equipment Manufacturers' Association (CBEMA), SEMI-Sematech/SISA, Electronic Design Automation Consortium (EDAC), University of Michigan National Advisory Council, Lewis and Clark College and SEMATECH.
Dr. Rhines holds a Bachelor of Science degree in metallurgical engineering from the University of Michigan, a Master of Science and Ph.D. in materials science and engineering from Stanford University, a master of business administration from Southern Methodist University and an Honorary Doctor of Technology degree from Nottingham Trent University.
Gregory K. Hinckley
President
Gregory K. Hinckley serves as President of Mentor Graphics Corporation, a publicly traded provider of electronic design automation solutions. Prior to Mentor Graphics, he served as Chief Financial Officer for two other publicly traded companies—VLSI Technology, Inc. and Bio-Rad Laboratories, Inc.
Mr. Hinckley is a director of SI-Bone, Inc. (a privately held orthopedic device company), a director of Intermec, Inc. (a publicly traded provider of automated identification and data collection (AIDC) solutions), a director of Super Micro (a publicly traded provider of advanced computer server systems and subsystems) and is an advisory director of Portland State University Engineering School.
Mr. Hinckley holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in physics from Claremont McKenna College, a Master of Science degree in applied physics from University of California, an MBA degree from Harvard Business School, and was a Fulbright Scholar in applied mathematics at Nottingham University in England. He is also a Certified Public Accountant.
Mike Ellow
Senior Vice President, World Trade
Ellow took leadership of the Mentor Graphics sales organization in August 2014. He brings 25 years of executive sales and technical management experience, along with a proven track record of building strong sales and field engineering teams while delivering positive, predictable results. These results are built on a foundation of focusing on customer success.
Ellow joined Mentor Graphics in March 2014 as part of the company’s acquisition of Berkeley Design Automation, where he was Vice President of Worldwide Sales. Prior to that, he held various positions at Cadence Design Systems, overseeing sales in North America, Europe and India, culminating in the role of Corporate Vice President, North American Sales. Prior to Cadence, he held management, marketing and engineering positions in a number of different industries. He started his career as an electrical engineer at Hughes Aircraft.
Ellow has a BSEE from Lehigh University, an MSEE from the University of Southern California, and an MBA from California State University, Fullerton.
Erich Buergel
Vice President, Focus Products Organization
Erich joined Mentor Graphics in August 2009 as the general manager of the company’s Mechanical Analysis Division. He has over 25 years of experience in software engineering, sales, marketing, and management in the mechanical design automation (MDA) market and has held senior management positions at Structural Dynamics Research Corporation (SDRC), MSC Software and StS, a German system integrator. Over his career, he accumulated over 25 years of sales experience managing resellers and direct sales organizations. Erich has an engineering degree in mining and a Ph.D. in Fluid Dynamics from the Technical University of Clausthal in Germany. In addition, he has an Executive BBA from GSBA in Switzerland.
Don Cantow
Vice President, Global Accounts
Based in Mentor's Warren, New Jersey office, Cantow has been with Mentor for over six years in several sales management roles. Prior to his work at Mentor, Cantow spent 11 years with Texas Instruments in sales, marketing and sales management roles including Global Account sales management and Wireless Solutions marketing management.
Marc Corbacho
Vice President, Sales, Americas
Based in Mentor’s sales office in Waltham, Mass., Corbacho has over 20 years of sales and marketing experience with software, semiconductors and optical solutions. Most recently he was the vice president of sales and marketing for NetOctave, a developer of silicon-based network security solutions. Prior to that, he was the director of North America Sales, Geographic and Key Accounts for Lucent Micro Electronics, and has held sales and management positions with VLSI and Motorola SPS.
Corbacho has a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of New Mexico and has completed the Harvard Business School Program for Management Development.
