Internal Job Postings are a great way of encouraging people to grab every opportunity. I was working as a Quality Analyst and when I received an IJP email for a Senior Process Expert position this year, I did not hesitate and took the chance. What’s more, my previous role really helped me prepare for the new role.
Internal Job Postings in RRD help promote learning opportunities within the company that go a long way in helping us advance in our career. I joined as a Document Specialist, have been part of 3 processes and am now leading a team as Associate Client Manager. All thanks to the IJP system.
Though we are a division with more than 1000 employees, Athlon helped us in creating strong bonds between employees and igniting the team spirit amongst us. Communication between employees improved, and we have learnt the importance of collaboration to win events.
Athlon – the name itself invokes a sense of fun and joy, keeping employees motivated. It sets the stage for us to come together, to not just exhibit but also hone our talents. We may battle against other divisions for Athlon, but we all stand together as one team when we represent RR Donnelley for inter-corporate events.
My role requires me to be the main link between the client and the offshore team. Emerging Leader course of Learning and Development focused on Leadership Styles, Business Case Writing, Mentoring and Motivating, Presentation Skills and Delegation Skills. As a team lead, I come across numerous opportunities to practice what I learned by giving effective evaluations.
I believe we have an open communication culture to a large extent – we can express our views to our superiors and to the HR – RM; and sometimes we also get the chance to express our views to our senior leaders. In addition, we have portals through which we can communicate our views to HR. I get opportunities to meet leaders directly and the feedback they provide has helped me improve my professional life.
I enjoy playing with kids and spending time with the needy, which is when I believe, one really learns about life. It helps me balance my lifestyle. I owe RRD for bringing me opportunities to serve my community. I volunteered for Global Community Connect and an event with special children spending around 4 to 5 hours for each program. It’s about clearing away space and making time for people who need our presence. Giving something back to the society has always been a great initiative. RRD has never let an opportunity slip by, whenever there is a chance to serve people in need.
The initiatives that RRD brings focuses mainly on bringing change or improvement to the society which people in the organization participate in with great enthusiasm. That attracts me and that’s how I got involved with RRD’s community. The support from my managers and my team makes me participate actively. I even dedicate my weekends to this and I have won the top volunteer award twice. I proudly say that Donnelley is taking a lot of valuable effort, which brings changes within the organization and the society at large.
Joining as a vendor staff in 2009, I played in the T10 Cricket Tournament spearheaded by the W&E team. Though we didn’t make it past the semifinals, my performance was noted and appreciated by the senior management. A few months later I was amongst the few vendor staff selected to become a permanent employee. And finally in 2010 my team won the T10 Championship. I’ve also played in the Donnelley Premiere League and got the opportunity to play with players from across the organization.
