In the 1920s, Conrad and Marcel Schlumberger set out to understand the Earth’s subsurface structures through technology. This pioneering spirit has enabled Schlumberger to become the largest Technology Innovator in the global energy industry with over 100,000 employees who help us understand and overcome some of the largest challenges in the Oil and Gas Exploration space across 120 countries. Schlumberger has been present in India since 1933 servicing companies such as Oil India, ONGC, Reliance Energy, Cairn Energy and many others.

Schlumberger PITC

PITC is one of 2 IT Hubs that are at the core of the Company’s Digital, Application and Infrastructure capabilities. PITC was started in 2015 and has rapidly grown to 1000+ Technology Professionals with over 60+ competencies. It leads and drives multiple global initiatives and functions.

The IT products, services and solutions developed and supported at PITC are helping the organisation keep pace with Digital advancement in the larger universe of Technology.

Transformations start from within and Schlumberger is no different. Starting from 2013, Schlumberger has undergone four implementations of SAP. The latest implementation, Release 2.4, marked a historic day as it was the largest simultaneous deployment of SAP in the history of SAP. The capability, commitment and confidence of the teams at PITC ensured a successful implementation . With 20,000 users and an extremely high adoption rate, the deployment not only represents increased digital enablement but also the competency and work culture present across IT.

Concurrently with the SAP Program other areas that were targeted in the IT Transformation were Mobility, Advanced Analytics, Big Data, Power BI, Cloud Infrastructure and Operations. Internal ways of working and methodologies have been revamped and Devops and Scrum are the newer ways in which IT is being executed and delivered. All these have a strong presence and permeate throughout PITC.

Key Partners such as Microsoft and Google have held multiple workshops in PITC. Schlumberger is amongst the first of Google Cloud’s enterprise customers.
