Job Description:
- Mechanical testing of non-metallic materials such as technical fabrics, coated fabrics, elastomers/rubber, polymers, plastics, composites etc. using UTMs.
- Environmental testing such as Flammability Testing, Radiant heat resistance testing, testing after controlled temperature and humidity exposure, vibration testing, salt fog and other long and short term environmental tests on metallic and non-metallic materials.
- Performance of the above tests in accordance with international / industry standards for aerospace materials, testing and acceptance such as AMS specifications, MIL standards, ASTM standards, FAA-FAR and TSO regulatory standards
- Preparation of Test plans/QTPs/Test schedules, interpretation of test results, test report preparation and issue.
- Participation with design and engineering teams in the areas of new product design and development, determination of testing requirements, qualification testing etc.
- Participation with SCM team in supplier oversight/ surveillance testing and process control
- Support to Operations/manufacturing in routine production/lot acceptance testing, life-extension/validation testing etc.
Basic Qualifications :
- Experience in the field of mechanical and environmental testing of aerospace non-metallic materials such as polymers, technical fabrics, rubber/elastomers, plastics, polymer matrix composites, Metallurgical testing, metallographic sample preparation, Microstructural analysis and interpretation of metallic microstructures/ phase identification studies using metallurgical microscope and computerized image analysis system.
- Experience in set-up, testing software and data acquisition, operation, maintenance, calibration, trouble-shooting and handling of electro-mechanical/electro-hydraulic Universal Testing machines of reputed makes.
- Experience in set-up, operation, data acquisition and maintenance of environmental (controlled humidity and temperature) chamber, salt fog chamber, Flame test chamber, vibration test bench, etc., will be an added expectation.
- Familiarity, understanding and interpretation of International aerospace Materials, Testing, acceptance and regulatory standards such as AMS, MIL, ASTM, ISO, FAA-FAR/TSO standards
- Familiarity with NABL(ISO17025:2005) certification requirements and experience in working in a ISO 17025 accredited lab or a lab with equivalent accreditation will be desirable.
- Familiarity with AS 9100 rev C Quality System requirements and NADCAP – MTL requirements desirable
